Stava.com Page
Check out our stava.com page for the details on the course. Who's ridden it and in what time, and what are the juicy details. Report your own time through your gps and show off your stuff.
The course Brian uploaded is the "pro course." It's possible for slight variation on race days for the course depending on category. For now though test your legs against the pros!

Herron Hammer Report
Kalispell, MT, played host to the 2nd Montana Off Road Series Event. The Herron Hammer was put on by Shelli Thomas and the Flathead Cycling Club. The course was wooded and had a nice mix of double and single track.
The men's Pro/Cat 1 race was a Sportsman Ski Haus Party. Phil Grove jumped two spots from last weekend to win the race. Breakout performance of the day went to Joel Sheehan in 2nd place. He was followed by his teammate Clint Muhlfeld who is really looking strong with a 2nd and 3rd in the first two MORS races. Behind Clint, Toby Meirerbachtol and Alex (Richard) Shoenfelder (GAS) had a great battle for 4th and 5th. Schoenfelder saved enough in the end to beat the Hellgate Cyclery Rider.
Excellent competitive racing in the ladies field. Rose Grant came out on top for Sportsmans, but not after a great challenge from Big Sky Bikes Rider Lindsy Campbell. Rounding out the podium was super talented Erika Krumpleman who came over from the Spokane area.
Notes
-Again 20 or so rider in the pro/cat 1 field
-Caleb Schulte (sp) battled with MBW Rider Bryce Daviess in the cat 2 race.
-5 ladies in the pro/cat 1 field, nice turnout
-The Flathead Valley is doing amazing things regarding trail advocacy and construction. It's an inspiration to those of us in the rest of the state.
-Big cash purse! Over $1000 in cash and merchandise. What a great thing for MT Racing. Thank you Flathead Cycling.

Schultz takes first MORS race in Helena, Sportsman's Shines
Helena, MT, Sam Schultz took the victory at the first Montana Off Road Series Event. Strong winds and seasonal temperatures greeted the racers Sunday morning.
Big Sky Bikes and Chad Dexter put on a great round one of the series. The course was a 6 mile rolling mix of double track, jeep trail and single track. In the cat 1/pro race Ben Parsons took the hole shot, but Schultz worked his way through the field and won the race posting a super fast 5th lap. Behind, Clint Muhlfeld, Alex Schoenfelder and Phil Grove battled for 2nd and 3rd. The more experienced Muhlfeld was too much for his teammate and beat him out for 2nd. Grove capped off a solid ride rounding out the podium in 3rd.
Sportsmans dominates on all fronts
Flathead Cycling rider, Sheli Thomas rode a solid four laps earning a victory in the cat 1 women's race. However, she was un-contested, with no other ladies entering. It looks like Sheli will have company shortly, as new Sportman's rider Rose Grant held off Northern Rockies, Jamie Terry to win the women's cat 2 race. Both Grant and Terry put down impressive laps times and will be a force in the next couple races.
Notes
-Big cat 1/pro field with 20 or so riders
-MBW rider Mark Janikula was flying, and took the cat 2 race, Jared Nelson from the Rockford Coffee/Clif Team was 2nd
-Bozeman had a strong showing and proved that they are re-loading with some young talent. Zach Guy and Alex Shoenfelder were very impressive taking 6th and 4th in the cat 1 race.
-Cat 2 race was stacked with great riders; Bill Schultz, Mark Brooke, and Erik Horn, just to name a few
-Article in the Helena IR Article

Looking for Host Housing Volunteers
This is super exciting! We are getting requests for host housing! People are coming!
We are in need of housing for racers. It doesn't require the bed and breakfast treatment. Just a roof over the head and a place to sleep.
Please email Joey if you are interested, ray.joey@gmail.com

Laps
I've received a couple questions about the number of laps per race. I've updated the race flier and "Schedule" tab to reflect lap numbers. With the current course conditions we still don't have race lap times. Therefore the lap numbers are subject to change (plus or minus 1 lap).
