With the huge help of a crew of volunteers from the Montana Conservation Corps and the community of Missoula, we've managed to build a slightly different descent route on the Marshall Mountain course. The new route is easier technically than the existing course, and it will be used for the lower category races.
Men Cat 3, Women Cat 3, Juniors, and Masters B will race on the modified course, all other categories will race on the standard course (that was used last year). Riders have the opportunity at registration to select which field they would like to race. Anyone is free to self-select into Category 3 or Category 2, the primary difference between these races is the technical difficulty (they have the same amount of climbing). Riders over 40 may self select into Masters A or Masters B; Masters A will ride the standard course, Masters B will ride the modified course.
In order to keep everyone racing the same course at the same time, we're changing the race day schedule a little bit. The revised (and now, true) schedule is as follows:
Friday July, 13th
9am - 5pm - UCI Elite Athlete check in
9am - 7pm - Course open for pre-riding
12pm - 7pm - Athlete check in
5pm - UCI Elite Racer/Manager meeting
